Trump brought solidarity to Resistance Front

TEHRAN, Dec. 09 (MNA) – Secretary of the Expediency Council said “when Trump called al-Quds (Jerusalem) the capital city of the Zionist regime, he unwittingly caused widespread solidarity in the resistance front.”

Secretary of the Expediency Council and former IRGC commander Mohsen Rezaei told Mehr News about the consequences of the US decision for the region and the resistance front noting that “Trump’s measure will unwittingly cause widespread solidarity in the resistance front.”

“If we look at the past, we will see there were minor differences between Hamas and the Islamic Republic of Iran. Palestinians and Hezbollah were reticent toward one another and there were even disagreements between Palestinian groups. What Trump did, however, brought solidarity to the resistance front,” he said.

Referring to the issue of Palestine and the recent statements made by the US president concerning US move to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s capital, Rezaei said “Trump’s action is both a declaration of war and a plot to disrupt regional security.”

“During the last 24 hours uprisings were staged throughout the whole region against this move and Israel used weapons against the Palestinians,” Rezaei said.

Calling the move an insult to all Muslims, he said that even the Europeans who contributed to the formation of the Zionist regime rejected it and asserted “we are responsible with respect to this issue for two reasons: first, we believe that choosing Jerusalem as the capital of the Zionist regime disadvantages Palestinians further and perpetuates occupation of those lands; second, and beyond the problem of Palestine, al-Aqsa Mosque belongs to all the Muslims. According to Quran, al-Aqsa Mosque and the lands surrounding it are holy lands.”

Calling the support provided by Saudi Arabia for Israel and the US regrettable, Rezaei said “the triangle of Israel, Saudi Arabia and the US is present in the region and we are concerned about its possible interference in the affairs of Iraq.”

He urged the Islamic countries to summon their ambassadors to the US and to either cut oil exports or reduce it greatly.

Secretary of the Expediency Council said about the trip made by the UK FM to Iran “we hope that such trips and the negotiations that follow persuade the Europeans to adopt a strong stance against the extreme measures of the Americans.”

He referred to the policies of the Islamic Republic of Iran with respect to Palestine and said “all the Iranian officials have condemned this move and have urged Muslims to rise up against it. Palestine has turned into the number one concern throughout the world and we hope that the fight for the freedom of al-Quds ends in victory.”
