Bodybuilders bag 6 medals at Olympia Amateur India

TEHRAN, Oct. 15 (MNA) – Iran’s amateur bodybuilding squad has so far scooped six colorful medals at the 2017 Amateur Olympia underway in Mumbai.

India in playing host to Amateur Olympia series for the first time ever. On the opening day of the sportive event, Iran’s Classic Bodybuilding outfit, comprising eight members, collected six medals, including two gold, two silver and two bronze. In the overall Pro category, however, an Egyptian athlete won the title even though Iran had two representatives present in the section.

The competition continues today in the Physique and Bodybuilding sections.

The first edition of the Olympia Amateur India is a prestigious IFBB international event, an amateur version of the famous Mr. Olympia Pro competition, started by the inspirational concept & vision of bodybuilding pioneer and promoter Joe Weider in 1965.

Beside traditional Men’s bodybuilding, the amateur version also includes categories like Bodybuilding (6 weight categories), Classic Bodybuilding (4 height categories), Men´s Physique (4 height categories), and Women´s Physique (2 height categories).

The 1st edition of the Olympia Amateur India is being competed from October 13th to 16th in the Indian city of Mumbai.
