TEHRAN, Oct. 11 (MNA) – Iran’s Ambassador to Russia Mahdi Sanaei emphasized that the increase in the number of Iranian-educated students at Russian universities is indicative of the expansion of scientific and academic relations between the two countries.

"The development of relations between universities in Iran and Russia through the exchange of students and faculties is indicative of the development of relations between the two countries," Mehdi Sanaei made the remarks Tuesday during a speech at Kazan Federal University in Tatarstan.

Pointing to the high level relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Russia, he further voiced satisfaction with the amount of Iranian students studying at Russian universities as indicative of the expansion of scientific and academic relations between the two countries.

The first Russian Iranianologists have been from Kazan, he said, adding that Iranology has a 200 year old history in Kazan and Tatarstan.

Iranian diplomat met with university officials before his speech to university's college students, and answered the questions of students on issues related to the Caspian Sea, Iraqi Kurdistan, and JCPOA.
