Iranian Wushu fighters shine at 14th WWC in Russia

TEHRAN, Oct. 02 (MNA) – Mansourian and Hashemi, the Sanda competitors of Iran’s National Team of Wushu, won their quarter-final and semi-final events respectively at the 14th World Wushu Championships underway in Russia.

The Iranian female Wushu artists have staged magnificent shows at the 14th World Wushu Championships (WWC) underway in Kazan City, Russia.

Shahrbanou Mansourian, the Wushu practitioner of Iran’s national squad, thrashed Shannon Morton from the US outfit in the first round garnering one-sided points and racking up a huge point difference to secure her place in the semifinal. The two lined up in the category of Sanda competitions.

Mansourian had already knocked out her rival in her debut fighting in the competition and she will fight against the representative of India late on Monday.

In the weight class of minus 70 kilograms, another Sanda competitor of Iran’s Wushu team, Maryam Hashemi defeated the representative of the Netherlands and became the first Iranian to find her way to the final venue of the competitions in Kazan.

Hashemi will line up against Wushu exponent of the Philippines on Tuesday while he Philippine rival has a world record of garnering world medals of the field.

Kicked off on September 27th, the tournament will be concluded on October 3rd.
