Iranian runner snatches gold at Asian Athletics C’ship

TEHRAN, Jul. 09 (MNA) – Following good performance of Iranian sportspeople at 2017 Asian Athletics Championships, Hossein Keyhani could also snatch gold at men's 3000 meters steeplechase.

In the course of the 29th edition of the Asian sportive event underway in India, Iran’s Keyhani won men’s 3000m steeplechase race in 8 minutes 43.82 seconds to grab another gold for Iran in front of a huge crowd at the Kalinga Stadium.

Keyhani’s gold medal swelled Iran’s medal tally to five, including four gold, at the 22nd Asian Athletics Championships.

Previously, three gold trophies had been clinched by Ehsan Haddadi in discus throw, Ali Samari in shot put as well as Hassan Taftian in 100m sprint. Moreover, Moslem Niadoost stood on the second podium in the 1500m race.

The 2017 Asian Athletics Championships is the 22nd edition of the Asian Athletics Championships. It is being held from 6 July to 9 July 2017 at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar of India which is giving host to around 800 athletes from 45 countries.
