Intl. fact-finding cmte. should address Syria's chemical episode

TEHRAN, Apr. 08 (MNA) – President Hassan Rouhani has called for an international fact-finding committee to look into the issue of Syrian chemical episode.

Mr. Rouhani who was addressing a meeting Saturday believed that an independent committee should not allow US nationals or individuals with interests in the issue; "the committee should look into the issue to find about the whereabouts of the chemical weapons, whether it had been chemical weapons or not which poisoned the civilians during the airstrike," he added.
"The UN supervised demolition of all Syrian chemical weapons back in 2012; claims could have potentially be hollow since President Assad would not have conceal his stockpiles of chemical weapons; however, the US and the west in general, giving their own version of the events, implicate Assad as the perpetrator of the crime unilaterally and without necessary corollary; the US strikes on Syrian airbase have only worked to strengthen and reinvigorate the terrorists who had been pushed on the wall in Syria," Rouhani emphasized.
"No legal permission, even by the US Congress, had been sought in doing a rash action, which is seen by many as violation of the international rules," President Rouhani objected.
President Rouhani then turned to domestic issues of presidential elections and believed that May 19 would be a historic day for the years to come; "for a high-turnout, all officials and parties should avoid hitting the public trust on the system through providing in the media inaccurate news and false narratives about government's performance in terms of economy; a morally bound party or individual should respect the rules of the games and eschew from spewing malice and scandal to achieve success against political rivals," he was quoted by Iran's state news agency IRNA.
