TEHRAN, Dec. 27 (MNA) – Iranian cinema has taken a considerable spot at India's Kolkata International Children's Film Festival with two features and seven short films selected for the screening program.

The two feature films representing Iranian cinema at the Indian film festival are ‘Parole’ by Hossein Mahkam and ‘The Mobarak’ directed by Mohamreza Najafi Emami. The short films include ‘Like A Balloon’, ‘Son’, ‘Alamak’, and ‘Children of Rain’ with three other titles.

Hossein Mahkam’s debut feature 'Parole' tells the story of a young boy, Saeid, who is released from jail only to come face-to-face with some problems with his family. It has already experienced international screening in the 36th Cambridge Film Festival of UK and 14th edition of the Chennai International Film Festival, India.

‘The Mobarak’ is Najafi’s first feature Real-Animation film. It is a modern adaptation of the ancient Persian poet Ferdowsi’s epic drama, during which the puppets set out in search of Rostam, an ancient hero who was abducted.

The sixth edition of Kolkata International Children's Film Festival is currently underway in India from 25 Dec.  to Jan. 1, 2017.
