Iranian parliamentary delegation headed by Fatemeh Zolghadr took part in the 9th Plenary Session of the ASIAN Parliamentary Assembly (APA) from 27 November to 02 December 2016 in the cultural province of Siem Reap Angkor.
On the sideline of the summit, Zolghadr held talks with the head of Iran-Cambodia parliamentary friendship group, thanking him for his hospitality and the successful holding of the APA plenary session. She also expressed hope that the opening of the two countries’ embassies will improve Tehran- Phnom Penh relations to a desirable level.
In her meeting with Vice Chairman of Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation Committee for Indonesia’s House of Representatives Juliari Batubara, Zolghadr stressed that expansion of parliamentary ties, particularly the friendship groups, can facilitate development of all-out relations, and voiced Iranian parliament’s readiness to improve its relations with Indonesia.
Following that, the Iranian MP held talks with the Vice-Chairman of Committee on Health Care and Environment in the Council of the Russian Federation. She noted fighting terrorism and extremism as one of the major grounds for cooperation between Iran and Russia, saying the two countries’ common views on fighting against terrorism is highly significant.
Zolghadr further invited Vietnam’s parliamentary friendship group for an official visit to Tehran.
In her last meeting with the vice-chairman of Committee on Foreign Relations in China's National People's Congress, Zolghadr deemed China an effective country on various international scenes, calling for more participation from China in resolving the conflicts in West Asia, particularly Iraq, Syria and Yemen.
