Iran, Côte d’Ivoire keen on boosting trade relations

TEHRAN, Nov. 16 (MNA) – Director general of Investment Promotion Agency of Côte d’Ivoire (CEPICI) and Iran’s ambassador to the African country have stressed expansion of bilateral economic investments.

Speaking at a meeting with Emmanuel Esmel Essis, Director-General, Investment Promotion Agency of Côte d’Ivoire (CEPICI), Iran’s Ambassador to Ivory Coast Manosur Shakibmehr discussed venues for expansion of mutual relations between the two nations.

The Iranian official emphasized the need for familiarizing traders and investors of both sides with existing capacities and facilities.

He later voiced Iran’s readiness to bolster ties with Côte d’Ivoire in a broad variety of fields including energy, automobile manufacturing, pharmaceutical and medical equipment, agriculture, construction of factories to process agricultural products, cocoa in particular.

Also at the meeting, CEPICI Director General Emmanuel Esmel Essis urged both countries to grasp present opportunities and voiced readiness to make a visit to Tehran also inviting officials of Organization for Investment Economic and Technical Assistance of Iran (OIETAI) to travel to the city of Abidjan for further probe into economic collaborations.

“Proper grounds are available in Ivory Coast for investments in power, informatics, mining, telecommunication, oil and pharmaceutical arenas,” he continued.

Esmel Essis also expressed CEPICI’s readiness to ink Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with the Iranian parties.

The second round of joint commission between Iran and Ivory Coast is slated to convene in the first quarter of 2017 in Ivory Coast’s economic capital Abidjan.

Ivory Coast export products include cocoa, coffee, timber and related products, petroleum and petrochemical products, cotton and textiles, bananas, pineapples, palm oil and fish.

The African country also imports gasoline and diesel as well as food and health products that are supplied by China, France and some neighboring countries.

Ivory Coast or Côte d'Ivoire is a country located in West Africa. Its political capital is Yamoussoukro, and its economic capital and largest city is the port city of Abidjan.
