Supplying regional security proves costly for Tehran

TEHRAN, Oct. 10 (MNA) – Parliament's General Director for International Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian said Tehran carries heavy costs for providing the entire region with stability and security.

Amir-Abdollahian made the remarks at a meeting with special envoy of Singapore’s parliament speaker to Tehran Ung Kong Yung saying that the two sides have always held good relations though bilateral cooperation needs to be developed in areas like trade, economy, politics and culture “expansion of ties between Iran and Singapore, as two major and influential states, could benefit both nations.”

He conveyed warm greetings of Iran’s Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani to his Singaporean counterpart adding “Iran’s Parliament is fully ready to help strengthen bilateral relations in all areas.”

The official further touched upon excellent potentials in the ties between the two sides especially in economic fields noting “increased collaboration between Iran and Singapore plays a crucial role in creating mutual understanding and recognition of common potentials.”

Later, he described certain regional developments and emphasized the need to fight terrorism and settle down issues through political solutions; “the Islamic Republic of Iran has always advocated diplomatic solutions based on people’s will.”

“Security in Iran may be considered as a model for sustainable security in other regional states and Tehran is paying a heavy price to provide stability and security in the region.”

Singapore’s Ung Kong Yung, for his part, pointed to growing cooperation between Iran and Singapore saying “Singapore attaches great importance to relations based on mutual respect and understanding and common interests.”

“Iran enjoys an important position in the west of Asia and the country's big market is very attractive to other states,” he continued voicing his country’s willingness to escalate bilateral ties with Iran by exploiting all existing capacities.

The Singaporean official also submitted letter of invitation of Singapore speaker of House of Representatives to his counterpart Ali Larijani and called for parliamentary delegation visits in different levels.
