Political independence vital for Iran: Amir-Abdollahian

TEHRAN, Oct. 05 (MNA) – The Iranian Parliament's General Director for International Affairs, Amir-Abdollahian commented on why Speaker Larijani cancelled the pre-scheduled meeting with visiting German official in Tehran.

“The reason why Mr. Larijani declined the pre-slated meeting with visiting German Economy Minister Sigmar Gabriel is clear and needs no more explanation,” reiterated the Iranian Parliament's General Director for International Affairs, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, on Tuesday evening after Ali Larijani, the Speaker of Iran’s Parliament cancelled his meeting with the German official.

The highest-ranking figure Gabriel was due to meet Larijani on his two-day trip to Tehran, who made the decision to snub Gabriel after Gabriel’s in-Germany interviews of past week about Iran’s political decisions were revealed in Iran and stirred fervent debates in Tehran and officials rapped him for such interfering comments.

“Persevering at the principled stands of the Islamic Republic of Iran and keeping the political independence of the country is a vital for us,” asserted Amir-Abdollahian.
