Iran’s Petrochimi beats India in FIBA Asia Champions Cup

TEHRAN, Oct. 09 (MNA) – Iranian basketball club Petrochimi Bandar Imam thrashed Indian rivals to reconfirm its top position at Group A of FIBA Asian Champions Cup in China.

Attended by 10 teams, the 25th edition of FIBA Asia Champions Cup started in Chenzhou of China on October 8 and will conclude on October 16, 2016.

The Iranian outfit started off its campaign at the 25th edition of Fédération Internationale de Basket-ball (FIBA) Asia Champions Cup on Saturday with a convincing victory over Pauian Archiland of Chinese Taipei.

Meanwhile, Petrochimi Bandar Imam managed to pull out a 95-51 victory over ONGC of India today to remain atop Group A of the sportive event.

Iran’s representative has faced an off draw for Monday, as the third day of the Asian tournament.

Petrochimi Bandar Imam has been drawn in Pool A along with Lebanon’s Al Riyadi, Indian ONGC, Qatar’s Al Rayyan and Pauian Archiland of Chinese Taipei.

Pool B comprises Iraqi Al Shorta, Kazakhstan’s Barsy Atyrau, Malaysian Westports Malaysia Dragons, Al Ahli of the United Arab Emirates and China’s Xinjiang Flying Tigers.

The preliminary round of the tournament is played in a round robin format, with every team taking on its four opponents in its respective group.

The top four teams from each group will then advance to the quarter-finals.

The winners of the quarter-finals will progress to the semi-finals, while the losing teams in the quarter-finals will play 5-8 classification games.
