Shiraz Open Squash 2016 kicks off

TEHRAN, Sep. 26 (MNA) – The 2016 Squash Australian Open Championships began today in southern Iranian city of Shiraz.

The Men's Shiraz Open 2016 got underway on Monday noon in Shiraz with attendance of 14 athletes from 10 countries.

Britain, Czech Republic, Austria, Singapore, Hong Kong, Kuwait, Iraq, Pakistan and Iran are competing at the international tournament.

A five-day Squash Referee clinic will be held on the sidelines of the sportive event under the supervision of Munir Shah, Head of the Asian Referees Committee.

Shiraz Open 2016 will last until October 01 in Pars Squash Club of Shiraz and the top athletes will receive prize money worth $5,000.

The World Squash Championships are squash events for men and women organized by the Professional Squash Association (PSA).

In recent years, the men's World Open has been part of the PSA World Series, a series of men's squash tournaments which are part of the Professional Squash Association (PSA) World Tour for the squash season.

The PSA World Series tournaments are some of the most prestigious events on the men's tour. The best-performing players in the World Series events qualify for the annual PSA World Series Finals tournament.
