‘Junk Girl’ bags Best Animation Award at American filmfest.

TEHRAN, Sep. 12 (MNA) – Iranian animation ‘Junk Girl’ directed by Shalale Kheiri and Mohammad Zare has won the Best Experimental Animation Award at International Motion Picture Festival in the United States.

Made in Iranian northwestern city of Tabriz, this short animated film is about a doll girl made of junk, who is mistreated by everyone and forced to leave her city. It is based on a poem by Tim Burton from his 'The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy, and Other Stories'.

The animation has so far been nominated for awards in many different film festivals around the world and recently garnered the Rivers Media Festival’s best animation award, the US.

Located in Helena, Montana, the International Motion Picture Festival takes place every two years and brings international cultures to Helena and the world, through the art of film/animation. According to the festival’s website, the International Motion Picture Festival present a wide spectrum of filmmaking, from feature films to documentaries, animation and short films, to experimental, student work, big budget films, low budget and even micro-budget projects.

This year’s edition of the festival ran from September 5 to September 7, 2016.
