Iran competing at Rio 2016 Footvolley World Tournament

TEHRAN, Aug. 26 (MNA) – The national Iranian footvolley team is competing at the Rio 2016 Footvolley World Tournament.

Brazilian Olympic Committee has officially approved the holding of a demonstration competition for footvolley in between the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and Rio 2016 Paraolympic Games.

The event holds great momentous as the sport is trying to become an Olympic sport in the near future.

Iran’s squad has been drawn up against Austria, Colombia as well as Brazil B in Group B of the first edition of Footvolley World Tournament.

A total 24 sports teams are competing in six four-strong groups at the sportive event which is underway in the Brazilian capital of Rio de Janeiro.

The competition kicked off on August 24 and will last until August 29 with Jamil Kor and Abuzar Ghorbani are representing Iran.

Powerful teams are participating in the Rio 2016 Footvolley World Tournament including Brazil, the Netherlands, Italy, Portugal, Poland among the others.

Previously, Iran’s national footvolley team ended its campaign at the 3rd edition of the Asian Footvolley Championship in Thailand, finishing as the vice-champion in the continental sporting event.
