Iran with Turkish officials since crisis opening

TEHRAN, Jul. 16 (MNA) – SNSC secretary, while condemning the Turkish coup, said Iran was in contact with security and political officials of Turkey since the beginning of the uprising.

Iran's Secretary of Supreme National Security Council (SNSC) Ali Shamkhani made the remarks emphasizing that the movements were under scrutiny by Iran with high sensitivity.

The official pointed to massive participation of Turkish people in defending security, stability and democracy in their country adding “will of people remains as the only criterion for the authenticity of any political change in the country.”

SNSC secretary further reiterated “the Islamic Republic of Iran, while supporting the Turkish official government, remains opposed to any action that disrupts stability, security and peace in the neighboring country.”
