Iran, Armenia reach visa deal

TEHRAN, Jun. 04 (MNA) – According to Armenian Deputy FM Shavarsh Kocharyan Iran and Armenia reached an agreement to waive visa issuance for the visitors of both countries.

Iran and Armenia are to launch a program according to which the two countries waive visa requirements on Iranian and Armenian travelers as far as the stay would not last more than 90 days and has not been made at least for 180 days.

Armenian Deputy Foreign Minister of Foreign Affairs Shavarsh Kocharyan announced that Armenian government passed the permission for signing the agreement on Thursday.

Citizens of both neighboring countries, whether with ordinary or political passports, can benefit from the program.

Kocharyan asserted that the agreement is an important step to strengthen the bilateral ties between Tehran and Yerevan and would surely contribute to common interests of Iran and Armenia in all areas including economy and trade.

Among the neighboring countries of Iran, Armenia shares the shortest borderline as long as 40 kilometers, while Iraq with 1,609 km of border with Iran enjoys the longest border length out of Iran’s 8,731 km of Iran’s borderlines..
