Hossein Dehghan, Iranian Minister of Defense, unveiled three domestically designed and manufactured technological achievements on Wednesday at Malek-Ashtar University of Technology, which included 1mW Transmitter of National Positioning System, Robotic Vacuum Coating Machine, and Vacuum Arc Remelting (VAR) Furnace.
“The Defense Ministry’s approach in areas of science, research and technology is based on the country’s defense doctrine and the three achievements that were unveiled today, in addition of having the said characteristic, are a prominent symbol of ‘Resistance Economy’, as well as ‘practical and efficient measures’ in rendering the enemies’ unjust sanctions ineffective,” said Brig. Gen. Dehghan.
About the 1mW Transmitter of Positioning System, he said “all positioning, navigation and timing services in the country are based on GPS, and since we have no control over their precision, quality and quantity and also because there is always the risk of these services being cut off during emergency, it seemed inevitable to develop a domestic positioning system with high reliability and quick replacement ability.”
He went on to add that in the future, five powerful transmitter stations will be established in appropriate locations in the country which can provide national GPS navigation and timing services with global standards.
About the Vacuum Coating Machine he said, “this machine can be used in bulks, solid fuel and ballistic missile nuzzles, special chemical corrosion-resistant coatings of metals such as niobium, tantalum, tungsten, chromium, molybdenum and coatings with biological applications.”
About Vacuum Arc Remelting (VAR) Furnace, he explained, “the VAR furnace can provide services in manual and automatic modes, and can be used for melting and purifying titanium alloys, remelting of super alloys and special steels.”
“Today, the Ministry of Defense, with a completely scientific and technological approach, meets the needs of its armed forces and serves as a reliable safeguard in service of advancing the country in various fields,” he said.
