Nawaz Sharif along with Chief of Army Staff of the Pakistan Army Raheel Sharif had also travelled to Tehran after a visit to Saudi Capital Riyadh in February 2016 with the aim of mediation to help resolve tensions between Iran and Saudi Arabia.
