Iran, Algeria to found joint water company

TEHRAN, Feb. 16 (MNA) – Iranian minister of energy has announced the plan to establish four Iranian-Algerian companies in the fields of water resources, dam construction as well as water management.

On the sidelines of a meeting with the visiting Algerian Minister of Water Resources and Environment Abdelwahab Nouri, Iran’s Energy Minister Hamid Chitchian told the reporters “new firms will begin activities on organizing and examining the status of water resources in collaboration with the private sector.”

During the meeting, the two ministers discussed mutual cooperation in management of water resources and sewage treatment.

Chitchian said the companies will be formed within the framework of joint venture between the two countries focusing on areas of water studies, dams, construction of irrigation networks, wastewater as well as creation of required equipment; “on the other hand, the ministry staff of the two countries will be provided with necessary facilities to hold joint training courses.”

The official emphasized that the employees of respective ministries will undergo training session on water management in both countries.

Energy minister pointed to the formation of five technical committees in Iran and Algeria commenting “the committee meetings will be held regularly in order to meet expectations since the two sides are determined to elevate level of economic relations.”

Algerian Minister of Water Resources and Environment Abdelwahab Nour, for his part, stated that the negotiations carry the message of Algeria’s friendship with the Iranian nation.

He emphasized the need to boost bilateral ties between the two countries calling for increased cooperation, consultation and coordination.

Algeria's Minister of Industry and Mines Abdul Salam Bushoarb is also to visit Iran in May on invitation of Iran's Minister of Industries and Mines Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh.

Iranian and Algerian traders and merchants are also to hold session in Tehran.
