Jahangiri stresses expansion of Tehran-Baku ties

TEHRAN, Dec. 22 (MNA) – Iranian First VP Es'hagh Jahangiri said that Iran and Republic of Azerbaijan need to develop all-out relations.

The Iranian official made the remarks in a meeting with visiting Azeri Minister of Economy and Industry Shahin Mustafayev.

He said that speeding political and economic agreements, between the two countries during last year was a step toward expansion of ties.

Given the sensitive location of Iran and Azerbaijan, Jahangiri added that terrorist groups and extremists like ISIL are a threat to the region and announced Tehran’s readiness to cooperate with Baku in fighting against terrorism in regional and international levels.

Shahin Mustafayev, for his part, referred to the meetings held between the presidents of the two countries in the past two years and said that bilateral ties have developed in the period.

The minister announced his country’s readiness to expand investment in Iran and added that the two countries hold capacities to expand joint investment and cooperation.
