‘Oblivion Season’ to open Italian film fest

TEHRAN, Nov. 17 (MNA) – The 16th edition of Italy's Asiatica Film Mediale festival will open with Abbas Rafei’s feature film ‘Oblivion Season’ which will also vie in the event’s competition section.

Established in 2000, the Italian film festival introduces Asian cinema with the idea of constructing a new possibility for discussion and cultural exchange between the country and the Asian continent.

Oblivion Season had taken part in the 29th edition of Braunschweig International Film Festival in Germany last week and its director said that it will attend a credible international festival every week.

The film narrates the story of an Iranian woman who starts a new life by marrying her loved one, but her dark past will not stop chasing her and she faces trouble even though she is supported by her husband.

Rafei’s production has received several awards at international festivals including the Best Feature Narrative Award at Buffalo International Film Festival (BIFF), the third Annual Rahway International Film Festival in New Jersey, Hudson Festival in New York, the 39th Montreal World Film Festival, Afghanistan International Women Film Festival as well as Brasov International Film Festival (BRIFF) held in Romania. The Universal Film Festival in US presented its Best Film Award to it while its actress Sareh Bayat bagged the event’s Best Actress Award.

The 16th edition of Italy's Asiatica Film Mediale festival will be held from November 20 to 28.
