Ayatollah Khamenei told the meeting of disabled war veterans on Sunday that disabled war veterans provided testimony to the ‘the great spirit of Imam Khomeini (RA) and the Revolution in fostering men with so magnanimous a character’ on the one hand and ‘to the crimes committed by supporters of Saddam Hussein’ on the other, Leader’s official website report said.
The meeting took place on the eve of the anniversary of the Sacred Defense Week held September 22-29 to commemorate the fallen soldiers and commanders of the Iran-Iraq war (1980-1988), where during a meeting, which lasted one hour and a half, Leader received disabled war veterans with spinal cord injuries, one or two eyes damaged, or one or two hands or legs and their families.
“Disabled war veterans are the most telling example of the times of plight of this great nation during the Imposed War; their living within society reveals historical, political, and international facts; the patience with which the wives of these disabled soldiers practice in looking after their husbands wins them the virtues of a real jihad,” the Leader emphasized.
