WFPIST offers condolences over Mecca event

TEHRAN, Sep. 17 (MNA) – Secretary General of World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought (WFPIST) issued a statement following the crane crash in Mecca during Hajj pilgrimage.

In the statement, the official said “The world of Islam is desolate for the incident in Mecca which was coincided with Hajj rituals.”

The Secretary General offered his condolences to the families of the victims and wished recovering for those injured in the incident and also called for safeguarding the pilgrims.

The construction crane fell on the holy city’s Grand Mosque on Friday and killed nearly 110 people and injured about 400 more. According to figures released by Iran's Hajj and Pilgrimage Organization, 11 Iranian pilgrims are among the deceased and 32 of the injured are Iranian.
