No obstacle to promote Iran-Singapore ties

TEHRAN, Aug. 30 (MNA) – Iranian President Hassan Rouhani underlined the need for taking advantage of opportunities reached after nuclear deal to expand and strengthen ties.

Noting that Iran's status would improve to establish trade and economic ties with the world following the nuclear deal, Rouhani reiterated to benefit from the opportunities to expand and strengthen relations.

President Rouhani made the remarks in a meeting with Singapore's new Ambassador to Iran Ong Keng Yong here on Sunday morning.

Underlining that Iran and Singapore have always been enjoying good relations, Rouhani expressed hope the trade and economic relations between the two countries would rise to an acceptable level.

Pointing to the necessity of development of relations between Iran and Singapore in the future, he said more opportunities would be provided to facilitate travel between the two countries.

Referring to the history of friendship between Iran and Singapore, Rouhani stressed there is no obstacle in the way of expanding ties between the two countries.

He added that the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to further develop its relations with Singapore in various sectors including energy, science and technology cooperation and cultural exchanges.

Ong Keng Yong, for his part, presented his credentials to the Iranian president and described Iran as a great civilization known to the people of Singapore.

"We seek further expansion of relations as well as promotion of trade and economic exchanges between the two countries."

He also stressed the need to increase cultural and tourism relations between the two nations and also the need for more interaction between businessmen of the two countries.
