7th Razavi Intl. Cardiovascular Congress wraps up

MASHHAD, Aug. 08 (MNA) – The 7th edition of Razavi International Cardiovascular Congress with 500 physicians in attendance wrapped up on Friday in Mashhad, Iran.

Throughout the three-day congress, 116 lecturers and chairmen presented above 70 articles on 10 main subjects including aortic valve surgery, congenital heart diseases, sudden cardiac death, improper diagnosis and treatment of mitral regurgitation.

Dr. Manouchehr Radpour, the scientific chairman of Razavi International Cardiovascular Congress, said the most important achievement of the congress was to provide better care for the patients by physicians.

He added that the international event had broad goals including familiarity with the latest methods of prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular diseases as well as sincere dialog with foreign physicians and specialists.

Dr. Marjan Hajahmadi, faculty member of Iran University of Medical Sciences, said heart failure mortality had a higher rate in Iran than many types of cancers, but unfortunately people are not informed of this fact.

“In general, heart failure frequency is the same in both genders, but it becomes more prevalent in old age for women,” said Dr. Hajahmadi, while recommending the minimum amount of salt in diets in order to prevent various heart diseases.

The congress followed several aims including introducing Razavi Hospital achievements in the fields of cardiac surgery, and preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic methods of cardiovascular diseases; discussing the latest medical achievements in the field; and exchanging of ideas with some of the prominent scholars.

The 7th Razavi International Cardiovascular Congress was held on 5-7 August 2015 at Razavi Hospital, Mashhad, Iran.
