Backing Palestine, fighting terrorism aid regional security

TEHRAN, Jul. 09 (MNA) – Iranian deputy FM Amir-Abdollahian says real support for oppressed Palestinian people and countering Israeli crimes will help the security of the region and the unity of Islamic world.

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian made the remarks on Wednesday on the eve of Al-Quds Day, the international day of protest against Israel and showing support for the liberation of Palestine which falls on the last Friday of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

The senior diplomat declared Israel as the main supporter of terrorism by the ISIL terrorist group in the Middle East, urging unity among Muslim nations to secure the future of the region.

“The destruction of the resistance front against the Zionist regime and the plundering of the wealth of Muslim countries are the main mission of the terrorist and extremist groups in the region,” he said.

Amir-Abdollahian further blamed the United States and the West for their double-standard approach in the fight against terrorism, saying they are responsible for “the intensification of Israel’s crimes and spreading insecurity in the region.”

The deputy FM also referred to Saudi Arabia’s aggression against Yemen, saying “the hawkish attitude of Saudi Arabia, as a Muslim country, against Muslim Yemeni children and women is reminiscent of Zionists’ actions in Gaza Strip and brings shame to the Islamic and Arab world.”

He further called on the Riyadh regime to take measures to help “the security of the region and the unity of Islamic world, to provide real support for the oppressed Palestinian people, and to confront the crimes of the Zionist regime.”

The Iranian diplomat also stressed that Saudi Arabia would benefit more from maintaining a balanced relation with other regional states.
