Iran to host 8th intl. stones exhibition

TEHRAN, Jul. 07 (MNA) – The 8th edition of Iran’s International Stones, Mines, and Related Industries Exhibition will be held in Mahallat in early October.

Mohammad Halajian, the exhibition manager, told Mehr News correspondent that the exhibition will feature booths displaying processing building stones, stone mines, mining machines, stone-cutting equipment, and other related stone industries.

The exhibition which will cover an area of 55,000 square meters will host the latest stone and mining achievements from domestic manufacturers as well as delegations from Russia, China, Italy, Spain, German, and Turkey.

Last year, the exhibition displayed 4,000 tons of raw stone from 70 mines in the country to introduce Iran’s mining potential to the stone industry.

The 8th edition of Iran’s International Stones, Mines, and Related Industries Exhibition will be held in Mahallat, a city in Markazi Province, from October 11-14, 2015.

Mahallat city as one of the important regions of the country in the industry of building stone produces 6 percent of Iran travertine stones.

With an average annual stone production of 5 million tons, second only to Italy, Iran still holds a considerable edge in this product.
