Drilling in South Pars to be tripled

BUSHEHR, Jun. 27 (MNA) – The introduction of a new highly advanced oil drilling platform into 13th phase of South Pars will reportedly triple drilling pace.

Pars Oil and Gas Co. public relations office quoted the major contractor in South Pars project 13th phase announcing introduction of the second oil super rig into operation phase; the super rig will reportedly start digging after being installed in section C of the reservoir section of the oil field.

Payam Motamed, an official of the public relations, told Mehr News local correspondent on Saturday that the installation operation of the rig in C jacket had been finished; “the project has on agenda drilling of 11 gas wells in the reservoir; given the high capabilities of the super rig and operational competence of the contractor, we predict the implementation of the phase to be completed on time,” he told Mehr News.

“During upcoming few weeks, Sahar 1 oil rig, of North Drilling Co. will start working in B jacket of the 13th phase, effectively accelerating the pace of drilling and gas production in the field, thanks to the improved number of rigs,” he added. “Currently, drilling section of the phase in A and B jacket sees a 60-percent physical growth; the development plan of the 13th phase was contracted to a consortium of Iranians’ Petropaydar, MAPNA, and Sadra (Iran Marine Industrial Company) as major contractors in cooperation with other foreign and domestic contractor companies,” he detailed.

South Pars 13th phase has in its horizon daily production of 50 million cubic meters of sweet natural gas, 80,000 barrels of gas condensates, 400 tons of sulfur, annual production of 1.1 million tons of liquid gas, and 1 million ton of ethane to meet the requirements of petrochemical complexes nationwide.
