During a meeting held in capital city of Bashkortostan Republic, Ufa, Sanaei and Hamidov explored the prospects of expanding mutual cooperation in economic, trade, scientific and industrial areas between the two countries.
Calling for broadening of economic cooperation between Bashkortostan and Iran, President Hamidov reiterated that the two countries have bright perspective of bilateral ties.
The value of trade transactions between Bashkortostan and the Islamic Republic of Iran exceeded $100 million until few years ago, Hamidov said, adding that the figure has considerably declined to $300,000 at the present time.
Hamidov stressed the need for improving the current situation, saying that the two countries have sufficient capacities to do so.
Sanaei, for his part, pointed to the positive trend of Iran-Russia cooperation, including the cooperation between the regions of the two countries, and propose devising a comprehensive plan for expansion of Iran-Bashkortostan relations.
Bashkortostan is a Muslim-populated republic with 4.1 million population where is located in an area of 143,600 square kilometers in Russia's Volga region.
