Velayati: Iran would not step back ‘even an iota’ from nuclear rights

TEHRAN, March 10 (MNA) – A senior adviser to Iranian Supreme Leader has said Iran would not back down "an iota from its nuclear rights."

Ali Akbar Velayati, who was speaking to press after the morning session of World Assembly of Islamic Awakening, told that in nuclear negotiations, the Islamic Republic of Iran had been committed to its quota of obligations.

“Iran has been acting in the framework of NPT and its activities have been in line with necessities of peaceful nuclear energy. Thus, we are committed to the negotiations,” Velayati added.

The Leader’s senior advisor however maintained that the ‘other side’ had not been committed to their obligations. “Among these powers is the US who has violated commitments made in Geneva deal. I told Mrs. Ashton in yesterday’s meeting that the US Secretary of State had immediately told in an interview after the Geneva deal and threatened Iran, though the US had admitted not adding new sanctions on Iran,” he asserted.
