Celebration of Iranian Cinema to be held tomorrow

TEHRAN, Sept. 11 (MNA) -- Milad Hall of the Tehran International Permanent Fairground will host the 8th Celebration of Iranian Cinema, the most important annual event of Iranian cinema tomorrow.

Top Iranian artists and the cinematic works of the past year in the categories of documentary, animation, short and feature films will be awarded during the star-studded gala. Several of Iran’s cinematic officials will also be attending.

 

“Friday Soldiers”, “Beautiful City”, “The Lizard”, “Mom’s Guest”, and “Soul Mate” are competing for the best film award, while filmmakers Azizollah Hamidnejad (“Tears of Gold”), Asghar Farhadi (“Beautiful City”), Bahman Qobadi (“Turtles Also Fly”), Hamid Ne’matollah (“Boutique”), and Dariush Mehrju’i (“Mom’s Guest”) are contending for the best director award.

 

The films “Human Beings Are Distant”, “Silent Companion”, “Flying Gentlemen”, “A Window Facing the Sun”, “Voice of the Moon”, and “Storm” are the films in the documentary section.

 

The animation films are “Birthday”, “Frame”, “Hole”, “The General and the Kite”, and “The Points”.
