Iran Starts Medal Hunt in Asian Bouts

TEHRAN, April 17 (MNA) – Iran Saturday started hunting colorful medals in the 17th Asian Freestyle Wrestling Championships underway here.

In 60kg, Morad Mohammadi handed the home country a silver medal as he lost to Lee Young-Chul from North Korea 5-2 in the final.

 

The two wrestlers tied 2-2 in the normal time but Mohammadi did not make it and lost three deciding points in the extra time and finished runner-up.

 

Mohammadi won the title in the 16th edition in India.

 

Jung Young-Hu from South Korea bagged bronze as he overcame his Mongolian rival.

 

In 96kg, Mohammad-Hossein Khaleqifar of Iran snatched his first medal in the seniors’ category by winning a bronze.

 

The 2001 gold and 2003 silver medalist in the world youth championships managed to beat a wrestler from Mongolia.
