Tehran condemns terrorist acts in north Pakistan

TEHRAN, March 2 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ramin Mehmanparast condemned on Thursday the terrorist attack in north Pakistan which left 18 people dead.

He also expressed his sympathy to the families of the victims and called on the Muslim people of Pakistan, whether Shia or Sunni, to be vigilant against the enemies’ plots to create discord among them.

Gunmen opened fire on a passenger bus in the northern Pakistani district of Kohistan in an apparent sectarian attack on February 28, killing 18 people, police officials said, according to Reuters.

"All the people on board were Shias, and at the moment it looks like they were targeted by armed men from the local Sunni community," a senior police official told Reuters.

The bus was traveling from central Pakistan city of Rawalpindi, near the capital Islamabad, to the northern town of Gilgit.
