During the meeting, Iran announced that it will have active participation in Yerevan programs for the 2012 World Book Capital.
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) chose the Armenian city of Yerevan as the 2012 World Book Capital as part of the agency’s ongoing efforts to promote books and reading.
“We support translation of Persian texts into Armenian and vice versa. There is a department in the Islamic Culture and Relations Organization (ICRO) which is responsible for translations from Persian,” he mentioned.
He asked the members to stay in Iran during the Fajr festivals as they will benefit from these cultural and artistic events.
Hosseini also announced that the Iran National Library and Archive and the National Library of Armenia will exchange manuscripts in the near future.
Center for Armenian Writers Director Leon Ananian expressed his thanks to Iranian officials who warmly welcomed the Armenian delegation.
“In previous years, we negotiated with Armenian centers in Iran but today we meet our Muslim friends and we do not feel like strangers in this country,” he said.
The members of the Center for Armenian Writers also paid a visit to the Iranian Academy of Arts (IAA) Director Ali Mo’allem Damghani during his visit in Iran.
