U.S. Support for Democracy, Human Rights a Pretext

TEHRAN, June 1(Mehr News Agency) -- The U.S. and its allies have proved that in order to deny the Islamic Republic of Iran of its legitimate rights, they are ready to commit any crimes, a Foreign Ministry adviser said on Tuesday.

“After the former Iraqi regime supported by the U.S., used chemical

weapons and committed other criminal acts in its war against Iran

back in 1988, the U.S. attacked Iranian airliner and completed Saddam's brutalities in its eight-year imposed war on Iran," Javad Manosuri told the Mehr News Agency.

“The defeat of the Baath regime in Iraq was almost evident in 1988,

and the U.S. Israel and other Western countries were well aware of

the fact,” he added, “But, they were anxious to see that the defeat was going to be inflicted by an independent state in the region.”

“They could not stand it. So in order to avoid it, they first bombarded the Iranian oil platforms, oil tankers and then they attacked the Iranian civilian airliner and killed some 300 innocent people on board," Mansouri said.

The official went on to say that the U.S. crimes against the Islamic Iran has continued up to the moment.

“It is funny to see that all these offenses are carried out by the number one advocate of the American style human rights and democracy in the world,” he said.
