Iran, Brazil presidents call for $25b trade

TEHRAN, Nov. 24 (MNA) – Presidents of Iran and Brazil highlighted the necessity to establish cooperation between the two countries in all fields, particularly industry, trade, energy, technology, mines and culture, and set a $25 billion trade volume goal for the next five years.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad held a three-hour meeting with his Brazilian counterpart, Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on Monday in Brasilia, SHANA news agency reported.

In this meeting the two sides agreed that there were no obstacles to stop the expansion of their relations and 13 cooperation agreements were signed with the presidents in attendance.

Negotiating, signing documents, meeting with Brazilian senate and parliament leaders, lecturing in Brasilia University, participating in a news conference, holding an interview with Brazil television and meeting Iranian residents there were the Iranian President’s activities during his one day visit to that country.

A 150 member Iranian trade delegation accompanies the president which is the largest such group in the past 30 years.

Meanwhile, Xinhua reported representatives of the Venezuelan and Iranian governments opened the Venezuela-Iran Entrepreneurs Meeting in Caracas on Monday.

Venezuelan Foreign Minister, Nicolas Maduro and Iranian Ambassador to Caracas, Ahmad Sobhani attended the opening ceremony, which was broadcast by the state-run TV channel Venezolana de Television (VTV).

“Our challenge is to give a plan for new and intense projects. Nothing can impede the capacities of the two sides and we have continued collaboration to get concrete results,” Maduro said at the ceremony.

More than 70 representatives of Iranian companies came to Caracas for discussion on agriculture, food, energy, commerce, investments as well as enterprises of various sizes before President Ahmadinejad’s visit to that country.
