Iran wins WAFF U-15 title

AMMAN, Jordan , Aug. 19 (MNA) -- Iran beat Syria 3-2 in the final of the West Asian Football Federation (WAFF) U-15 Football Championship on Tuesday.

Iran had won the title of this biennial event in 2005 while Syria clinched the crown in the 2007 edition in Aleppo.
 
In the semi-finals, Iran overcame Iraq 4-3 on penalty kicks after the regulation time ended in a 3-3 stalemate while Syria defeated Jordan 2-0.
 
Ali Fathian scored a hat trick for Iran in the final and Adnan Taqi and Ayhab Al Housni scored for Syria .
 
Iraq downed Jordan 3-1 to gain the third place.
 
Iran’s Ali Fathian and Iraq’s Hussain Abdollah won the Best Scorer Award of the tournament, scoring six goals each. Fathian was also selected as the most valuable player of the match.
