“Unfortunately, Ahmadinejad’s cabinet does not have the capacity to make use of individuals with different political persuasions,” he told the Mehr News Agency on Saturday.
“The president is repeatedly emphasizing making use of individuals who concur with him,” the cleric MP explained.
Commenting on the necessity of interaction between the Majlis and the administration on the cabinet selection, Akrami said the president could informally introduce some nominees to the Majlis and receive feedback from the Majlis.
“The president could make use of the expert views of the Majlis committees before formally presenting the list of proposed ministers to the Majlis. So far, this has not happened,” he stated.
However, he added, “Legally, the president has not violated the law.”
The MP also expressed hopes that “all officials, especially the tenth administration, move towards serving people and curbing inflation.”
Last minute changes in cabinet possible
Senior presidential adviser Ali Akbar Javanfekr said changes in the nominees list are possible up until the last minute.
“The president’s examination of the issues is comprehensive and will continue until the last minute,” he told the MNA on Saturday.
Javanfekr added none of the ministers has been finalized.
Commenting on the meeting between Ahmadinejad and the principlist MPs last Monday, the presidential advisor said holding such meetings is useful and will continue.
He said as long as jurisdictions remain within legal boundaries, there is no problem with continuing consultations and this “will benefit the national political atmosphere”.
However, Javanfekr pointed out that holding another meeting with the MPs before presenting the list of the nominated ministers to the Majlis is “unlikely”.
IRDS not to propose ministers
The deputy chairman of the Islamic Revolution Devotees Society, Lotfollah Forouzandeh, pointed out that the society will not give a list proposed ministers to the president.
“The devotees society does not believe in presenting a list to Ahmadinejad over the proposed ministers,” he told the MNA.
Forouzandeh added the nominees should meet a number of qualifications including piety, commitment, expertise, and good revolutionary records.
“The only concern of the devotees society is that the president and the Majlis heed these criteria in selection ministers for the tenth administration,” he explained.
Elsewhere in his remarks, Forouzandeh emphasized that the president should obtain the views of the Supreme Leader in selecting ministers.
“Ahmadinejad should consult with the Supreme Leader in selecting ministers especially key ministers because making use of the views of the Supreme Leader will be beneficial to the president.”
He also pointed out, “I have no doubts that Ahmadinejad as a principlist will consult with the Supreme Leader in choosing some of the ministers.”
President should consult with Leader over some ministries
Hamid-Reza Hajbabaii of the Majlis presiding board suggested that Ahmadinejad should consult with the Supreme Leader in choosing interior, culture, intelligence, defense, and foreign ministers.
“Choosing some of the ministers including interior, intelligence, culture and Islamic guidance, and foreign ministers should be with a direct consultation with the Supreme Leader as these ministries, especially the Intelligence Ministry” are considered important ministries with special sensitivities, the MP told the MNA.
Commenting on the interaction between the Maslis and the president over the cabinet, Hajbabaii said, “A number of representatives may have introduced some individuals to Ahmadinejad, however, no formal consultations have been made between the Majlis and the president about producing a list of proposed ministers.”
The MP added, “Ahmadinejad can make use of individuals from different principlist groups in the tenth cabinet.”
He also pointed out the more “intellectual, competent, and skillful” the cabinet members are, the more powerful the administration will be.
MP urges Ahmadinejad to heed Leader’s criteria
MP Seyyed Saber Jabbari urged the president to heed the criteria set by the Leader in choosing ministers.
“The president should spare no efforts in practicing the advice of the Supreme Leader and heed the Leader’s criteria in nominating ministers,” he told the MNA.
“The Islamic system will flourish by following the velayat-e faqih (the rule of the supreme jurisprudent),” he said.
The MP also insisted that the presidency of Ahmadinejad is legal after the confirmation by the Leader.
Thus, he is president as long as he practices the orders of the Leader, Jabbari said.
