Factional Attitudes Toward National Security “Act of Betrayal”

TEHRAN (Mehr News Agency)-“Any factional attitude toward threatd to national security is betrayal of the Islamic System and the nation,” said the Majlis Deputy from Hamadan Hamidreza Hajjibabaei.

Hajjibabaei said the explanations given by the ministers and officials at Tuesday's Majlis close-door session regarding the recent unrest had convinced the lawmakers.

 

On the heels of a decision by theMinistry of Science, Research and Technology, a round of student unrest broke out in various cities. Some political elements joined the students turning the student demeands into political unrest.

The situation came under control, but givne the proximity of the unrests to the anniversary of the 1988 unrest, the officials are discussing mechanism to prevent any unthwart development in the near future.

 

Hajjibabaei told added that it was inferred from the discussions that the national interests called for avoidance from factional considerations in dealing with the issue touching national security.

 

Hajbabaei, who is also a member of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, further said that the participants in the session agreed that the agitators of the recent unrest from whatever political camp must be punished. 

 

Wednesday’s Majlis session was attended by the interior, information, sciences, research and technology ministers, deputy Judiciary chief, and police officials.
