Calligraphy Embodies Iranian Literature: Shirchi

TEHRAN, June 27 (Mehr News Agency) -- Prominent Iranian calligrapher Esrafil Shirchi highlighted the fact that calligraphy is an art that embodies Iranian literature in the world.

He dubbed calligraphy as an ancient Iranian art, adding, “The art of calligraphy dates back to the Achaemenid era, further proving the fact that it has long been practiced in Iran.”

Iranian artists have long inscribed the poems of the great poets like Hafez and Sa’di in the form of calligraphy. We are all aware that the beauty of their poetry has always been associated with calligraphy.

Shirchi called for further support by cultural officials worldwide for the promotion of ancient art.
