In a phone conversation with Ismayil Haniyah - the prime minister of the Palestinian unity government - Ahmadinejad emphasized that Iran is standing by the oppressed nation of Palestine and vowed to defend the rights of the occupied country in his forthcoming address to the United Nations.
The president also congratulated the holy Muslim month of Ramadan and prayed for the freedom of the oppressed people of the world.
Haniyah, for his part, briefed Ahmadinejad on the latest situation in occupied lands and expressed appreciation for Iran’s efforts to support Palestine.
Stating that his government is committed to secure inalienable rights of the Palestinians, the prime minister said he is seeking unity among the entire Palestinian population.
