Iranian, South African FMs discuss regional developments

TEHRAN, Apr. 02 (MNA) – The South African Foreign Minister held a telephone conversation with his Iranian counterpart on Thursday to discuss the latest regional, international developments and bilateral relations.

South African Foreign Minister Ronald Lamola held a telephone conversation with Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi on Thursday), April 2, to discuss the latest regional, international developments and bilateral relations.
Araghchi also held a telephone conversation with the Philippine Foreign Minister earlier on Thursday.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran appreciated the message of condolences and sympathy and the position of South Africa in condemning the attacks of the United States and the apartheid regime of Israel against Iran, and called for all independent countries to adopt a clear and firm position in condemning the crimes of the aggressors against the Iranian nation.

Araghchi, explaining the latest developments in the region, reminded: This war was imposed on Iran and the region by the United States and the Zionist occupation regime, and Iran is defending its sovereignty, national security, and territorial integrity.

Referring to the military aggression of the United States and the Zionist regime against Iran as the main factor in the existing insecurity in the Persian Gulf and the Strait of Hormuz region, Araghchi emphasized that Iran's action in preventing the passage of vessels associated with the aggressors is based on international law and in line with protecting Iran's national security against illegal attacks by the aggressors. At the same time, the Islamic Republic of Iran, with a responsible approach, has provided the necessary facilities for the safe passage of non-hostile vessels through coordination with the competent and authorized Iranian authorities.
