2 tankers collide in Sea of Marmara near Istanbul

TEHRAN, Dec. 30 (MNA) – Two oil tankers sent distress signals in the Sea of Marmara near Istanbul on Tuesday.

According to the channel, the signals came from ships under the flags of Azerbaijan and Turkey and are located in the Floria area, TRT Haber reported.

The Turkish Ministry of Transport reported that the 141-meter tanker Kalbajar and the 115-meter tanker Alatepe collided near the anchorage of Küçükmede. Rescue teams and a tugboat were urgently dispatched to the area, TRT Haber reported, citing the ministry.

Istanbul authorities had previously issued a storm warning due to strong winds in the Sea of Marmara, the report added.
