The Civil Protection Service said the vehicle flipped onto its roof while travelling on the route linking Béchar and Tindouf, Reuters news agency reported.
Rescue crews treated the wounded at the scene before transferring several in critical condition to a nearby hospital, the report added.
The car accidents are common in the North African country. On August 15, a passenger bus fell off a bridge in the Al-Harash area east of the capital, killing 18 people.
