The administration of the American leader is working to deter Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu from this decision. This was reported on October 20 by The New York Times (NYT), citing sources.
"In the administration (of Trump. — Ed.) there are concerns that Netanyahu may withdraw from the deal. According to officials, the strategy of [Vice President J.D.] Vance, [Special envoy Steve] Witkoff and [Trump adviser Jared] Kushner's task now is to try to deter Netanyahu from resuming a full—scale offensive against [the Palestinian movement] Hamas," anonymous interlocutors of the publication are quoted as saying in the material.
It is clarified that the US president believes that the leaders of the Palestinian Hamas movement are ready to continue negotiations, and the incident with the attack on Israeli soldiers on Sunday, October 19, was committed by a "marginal element of the movement."
The Israeli regime airstrikes on the Gaza Strip became known on October 19. It was clamed that this aggression was carried out in response to the release of anti-tank rockets by Hamas at the structures of the Israel regime, which operated in the Rafah area in accordance with the terms of the agreement.
Later, the Axios portal learned that the United States intends to strengthen control over the observance of the ceasefire in the area, which came after the end of the war announced by Trump on October 13.
