Iran, Nicaragua FMs discuss global issues in NY meeting

TEHRAN, Sep. 28 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi met with his Nicaraguan counterpart Denis Ronaldo Moncada in New York on Saturday, discussing bilateral ties as well as regional and international developments.

Seyed Abbas Araghchi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, who has traveled to New York to attend the annual session of the United Nations General Assembly, held a meeting with Denis Ronaldo Moncada, Foreign Minister of Nicaragua, on Saturday afternoon.

The two foreign ministers discussed bilateral relations during the meeting. Araghchi described the longstanding ties between Iran and Nicaragua as valuable and significant, stressing Tehran’s readiness to expand cooperation in all areas of mutual interest.

They also exchanged views on regional and international developments.

Among the issues raised were the condemnation of the Zionist regime’s crimes in the occupied Palestinian territories and the urgent need to halt the genocide in Gaza, the condemnation of the Zionist regime’s aggression and warmongering in West Asia, and the necessity for greater cooperation and coordination among developing countries and the Non-Aligned Movement to safeguard the rule of law and counter lawlessness.
