Egyptian president offers condolences to Iran

TEHRAN, Jun. 01 (MNA) – The President of Egypt Abdel Fattah El-Sisi has extended condolences over the martyrdom of the late President Ebrahim Raeisi and his companions in the recent helicopter crash in northwest Iran.

In a message to the Acting President of Iran Mohammad Mokhber, the President of Egypt expressed his condolences on the martyrdom of late President Ebrahim Raeisi and Hossein Amir-Abdollahian and expressed his solidarity with the Leader of the Islamic Republic and the people of Iran.

The following is a copy of president El-Sisi's message.

President Raeisi, along with Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, two senior local officials, a protection officer and three flight crew members, were onboard a helicopter that crashed in mountainous regions near Iran’s Varzaqan region on May 19 as they were returning from a dam inauguration service held on the border with the Republic of Azerbaijan.

A council comprising of heads of three branches of the Iranian government held a meeting a day after the helicopter crash and agreed on June 28 as the date for early presidential elections in the country.
