Largest library in Middle East to open in Iran: minister

TEHRAN, May 08 (MNA) – Mohammad Mehdi Esmaili, Iran's Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance says that the largest library will be inaugurated in the Iranian city of Arak.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 35th Tehran International Book Fair (TIBF), Yasser Ahmadvand, President of the book fair said that "There are a total of 2,700 publishers in the virtual and physical part of the book fair. Also, the works of 100 foreign publishers will be displayed in this edition of the fair."

"The book exhibition has been held over an area of 150,000 square meters," added Ahmadvand.

Later in the TIBF opening ceremony, the Iranian Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance said that "The development of public libraries has been put on the agenda and in the coming months, the largest library in the region will be opened in one of the largest cities in Iran," namely Arak. 

"Last year, we reached self-sufficiency in producing paper for for textbooks with producing 80,000 tons. This year, with the opening of a new factory that does not require wood, the production of paper will reach 130,000 tons in the summer."

Esmaili continued to say that Any Iranians no matter when they are can buy books in a few minutes by going to the book fair website, and the culture ministry's authorities will deliver the books the people have bought at a discount and without charging them for posting their particles.
