Developing ties with African states of Gambia trip priorities

TEHRAN, May 04 (MNA) – Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian says that one of the main priorities of his trip to Gambia is pursuing the development of bilateral relations between Tehran and African countries.

In order to participate in the 15th Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, I traveled to Gambia in West Africa, the top Iranian diplomat wrote on his account on X social media platform on Saturday.

He said that he would deliver a speech and explain Tehran's positions at the OIC summit, and hold talks with the foreign ministers and officials of Islamic countries on the issues of sustainable development of Islamic countries, examining the challenges of the Islamic world, and the current situation in Gaza.

The OIC summit, slated to be held on Saturday and Sunday, is mainly themed “Promoting Unity and Solidarity Through Dialogue for Sustainable Development.”

Various issues and challenges in the Muslim world, especially the issue of Palestine and the status quo in the Gaza Strip will be discussed.

Three documents, including the draft of a resolution on Palestine, the draft of the Banjul Communique, and the draft of the final document of the summit will be presented to the meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers and afterward to the summit.
